There are the property listing videos that we all know and love, and then there are hosted property listing videos. A hosted property listing video features you as the “talking head” and it’s one of the easiest ways to build your personal brand in real estate.
I recently attended a real estate marketing webinar. One of the panelists was popular real estate marketing coach Jason Pantana. It didn’t take long for me to realize how quickly our opinions aligned on real estate marketing. If you read my blog, you know that I believe the only way to standout in the overcrowded real estate profession is to highlight YOU. Your personality, your expertise, your grit and determination are what separate you from the competition.
Hosted Property Listing Videos Elevate Your Brand
And there’s only one way to highlight yourself, and that’s through your personal brand. In answering a question during the webinar, Pantana repeatedly mentioned that video is the “medium of the day” to best build your personal brand. And one of the video verticals he highlighted was hosted property listing videos.
It all comes down to one main thing: “Your listings speak volumes about your brand,” said Pantana.
“Every successful business has great products. And for you, that’s your listings,” Pantana said. “I’m sure you want to find a better way to portray your listing in a way that reflects positively on you to a larger population of consumers. And I would say, that’s your listing videos. What an opportunity to gain exposure to you and your listings.”
Don’t Be Afraid to Get Started
As a former broadcaster, the idea of a hosted property listing video is easy. It’s very simple for me to hop in front of a camera and start talking. But I know that’s not the case for everyone. As my old basketball coach used to say, “Perfect practice makes perfect.” The more you put yourself on camera, the more comfortable you get on camera. Eventually it becomes second nature. And to help get you started, here are some tips I created for making talking head videos.
“You have to step up the video. You can’t hide yourself from the camera. Be the influencer,” Pantana said. “You are the product. People are choosing to work with you. So the way you present a property reflects on you.”
And Pantana shares this advice about hosted property listing videos:
“Get yourself used to walking through properties and telling the story of the home. Some of our clients are in the video the whole time. Some of our clients just do an on screen introduction and then they switch over to a voiceover. However you want to do it, find your own path forward, but leverage the listing to gain association that you are the dominant listing agent in your marketplace. Nobody goes to the lengths that you do to expose properties to a wider audience and potential buyers.”
Hosted Property Listing Videos Don’t Need to be Expensive
When you hear video, you might think about the expense. But hosted property listing videos don’t have to be expensive. I mean, everyone has a phone. And on that phone, there is a camera. That’s all you need. Well that, and free platforms to post your videos on like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. And again, here are some tips for the best camera settings for your hosted property listing videos.
If you want to put a little expense behind your videos, you can invest in a gimbal to help stabilize your videos. Pantana recommends the DJI Osmo (here is the newest version and less expensive earlier version — please note that these are affiliate links). And if you really want to level up your hosted property listing videos, you can turn to a professional video production company.
