I was recently clicking around LinkedIn and came across a post from one of my real estate connections. I honestly never take much away from LinkedIn, but this post stuck out to me. Mostly because it echoed the same thing that I push to real estate agents and brokers every single day: do everything you can to market yourself and your properties.
The LinkedIn post starts with the real estate agent’s motto: “Give it everything you’ve got, and then give a little more.” The author then explains what that means to him. In summary, he’s willing to do everything he can (and more) for his clients. And one of the ways he does that is by offering Matterport for every single listing, whether his clients request it or not. And while it’s an extra expense for him, it gives his clients the best chance to stand out in a crowded market.
It’s music to my ears to hear a real estate agent preach this message. And it’s exactly what I’m looking for as a seller. Listen, I get it. We all need to make money. But it’s the real estate agents that put their clients first who excel in the marketplace. And they do that by creating impactful content that can be consumed by any potential buyer: the photography lover, home listing video watcher, Matterport viewer, or floor plan dreamer. They’re not turning anyone away from the listing. It’s appealing to every consumer.
By doing more, you’re in turn marketing yourself just as much as you’re marketing your properties. There are a ton of lazy real estate agents out there. And there are just as many real estate agents who only care about their commission. Yes, they still seem to fall into work. But people want to work with real estate agents who show they really care. And, they’ll in turn tell friends and family about you. When you do things the right way, you will reap the rewards.
I simply say all this as a seller and buyer. That’s what I want from my real estate agent; someone who will go above and beyond without me asking for it. And it just so happens, I am also an expert in real estate marketing.
